Magnesium Hydroxide is an inorganic compound which has a low solubility in water. It is also called Milk of magnesia or magnesium(2+) hydroxide.

The aqueous solution is alkaline with a relative density of 2.36g/cm cubed. Soluble in dilute acid and ammonium salt solutions, almost insoluble in water and alcohol.
Solubility in water (18 ℃) is 0.0009 g / 100 g. Easy to absorb air carbon dioxide. In the 350 ℃ is decomposed into magnesium oxide and water.
Produced according to the required figures in regard to particle size, surface area, porosity and dispersion characteristics magnesium hydroxide reduces main raw stock losses and increases homogeneity of rubber and polymer blends.
Magnesium hydroxide is used practically for all types of plastics and filled copolymer compositions based on PVC, PA PS, PP, PE, PET, EVA IPM etc. as a highly non-toxic, inorganic flame retardant, filler and smoke suppressive additive.
